Gut-Healing Stewed Apples

Updated: Aug 26

Did you know that apples release a soluble fiber called pectin when they're stewed? Your gut bacteria will love you for making this recipe. I like to make a batch at the start of the week to add to chia pudding, oats, or eat as dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 apples

  • 1-2 tsp maple syrup

  • 1/2 lemon, juiced

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • pinch of salt

  • 2-3 tbsp water

Directions:

  1. Chop apples into small cubes

  2. Combine with 2 tbsp water, 1 tsp maple syrup, juice of half a lemon, cinnamon, and salt in a pot on the stove over low-medium heat.

  3. Stew for ~10-30 minutes (depending how soft you want it) stirring occasionally.
